WFSA has arrived in Richmond!!
No need to travel long distances to play competitive softball. After years of waiting and wondering, the women finally have a league of their own. The city of Richmond Women's Fast-Pitch Softball Association is making it's debut this Spring, and the early response has been promising. Players are embracing the chance to play fast-pitch softball, and in your backyard! The season will run from June - Aug 2012, games will be held on high school fields around the metro Richmond location.
This league is being organized by Kyle Taylor, president and founder of the local adult baseball league, NABA Richmond. NABA Richmond has grown to hold over 9 teams now in our 4th year since we began. Richmond is an ideal location for a fast-pitch league to thrive. My hopes are to form at least 4 teams for our 2012 debut season. We have started putting feelers out there, a lot of women are wanting to play. They are tired of slow-pitch softball and want to go back to fast-pitch because it's a completely different game. This league will provide college players a place to play during the summer, recent college and high school graduates to continue playing fast-pitch, and others wanting to get back into the game.
If you are a woman 18 or older and want to play fast-pitch softball, you finally can.
